Story Synopsis
Based on a little-known Greek myth, HYACINTHUS tells the story of a Spartan prince’s romance with the god Apollo. As love blooms between the prince and the god, so too does the jealousy of the singer Thamyris, Prince Hyacinthus’ best friend, and of the minor god Zephyrus, the West wind. Meanwhile, Polyboea—a princess and Hyacinthus’ sister—navigates her own onslaught of suitors until she, too, is entangled by the whims of the gods. Narrated in song by the Muses through an intricate score radiating sunlight, HYACINTHUS reveals an ancient, queer tale of love, and how far we will go in its name.
